How we know

The reality score is the centre of the product, so it should be explainable in plain words. This page describes the method we are building to, and is as specific about the limits as about the method.

What the score is

A 0–100 estimate of how closely one post matches what a typical visitor experiences at that place. High means the post is representative. Low does not mean the post is fake — it usually means it is true and unusual: a quiet frame from a crowded hour, a colour that needed the right ten minutes, a viewpoint that takes an hour to reach.

Where the signals come from

The post itself (image, caption, visible comments), public reviews together with their dates, opening hours, ticketing and access information, and aggregate visit patterns by hour and season. On top of that sits the traveller’s own Travel DNA — the answers they gave us, not behaviour we inferred.

What we do not do

We do not read private accounts, we do not buy personal data, and we do not rate the place. A score is about the distance between a post and a visit; it is not a verdict on whether somewhere is worth going. Nobody can pay to raise a score.

What happens when we are not sure

A place we cannot identify is returned as not identified, not as a confident guess. Low confidence is shown as low confidence. Every warning is attached to the signal it came from, so a traveller — or a partner auditing us — can check it.

Where it is weakest

Places with little public signal. Reviews that have aged badly. Languages we cover thinly. And anything weather-driven, which is a forecast rather than a score — we treat it as a separate input and label it that way.

Your data

Travel DNA answers belong to the traveller and are used to rank suggestions for that person. They are not sold and not shared. What this website itself collects is set out in the privacy statement.

TrailZ is in development, so parts of this describe the method rather than a shipped system. If you are looking at us as a partner or an investor and want the detail behind any line on this page, ask and we will walk you through it.
